The Human Culture
Learning to be human from an alien.
Introducing Mark Bailey, Renaissance Man… a blogger, painter, and creative genius for authoring One Man Embassy. I downloaded his book last night from Amazon and have fallen in love with his refreshingly naive alien protagonist named Hequa, whose biggest opponent, thus far, is not another character.
Instead, Hequa’s biggest challenge as an alien is learning “The Human Culture”.
We see how Hequa’s actions, consequences, and thinking about crucial issues pertaining to food, shelter, clothing, and money is processed in a way that would be so darn adorable if it weren’t so darn serious at the same time!
Here is a one-sentence narration of Mark’s book I did for my fledgling SoundCloud channel… along with a few thoughts.
Partial Transcript of My Soundcloud Audio Clip
“Having refused to eat any logs bugs for several days, and having found that it took him about three hours of collecting bucks from passing cars to pay for a restaurant meal, Hequa had wondered how anyone in this world could afford to stay fed.”

This is an excerpt from Mark Bailey’s One Man Embassy, a book… a brilliant book about an alien that is here on earth and having to learn a new culture… the human culture. You see, he loves worms. He loves log bugs. He loves to eat those things but he wants to eat in restaurants because that’s what humans do and he needs money to do that.00:54
So, ignorance is really what is keeping a smart alien like Hequa stomach hungry. Yet, it’s his spirit hunger that pushes him to learn adapt, and hopefully, in the end thrive. He has access to technology others want to monetize yet but because he (randomly) earned a buck from a passing car, he now thinks that that’s the way to earn.
I’m now starting the 21st chapter and according to Kindle, I’m 35% done. And, I don’t want it to end! I wouldn’t be surprised if Hequa’s journey of self-discovery is eventually seen on the big screen or trending as a Top 10 on Netflix!
I had no intention of reading past the 1st or 2nd chapter last night yet, I couldn’t put the book down.
Here’s a preview of One Man Embassy and a link to Mark Bailey’s blog… Enjoy!
Thank you, my friend, for showing us humanity through the eyes of Hequa.

Thanks for reading my stuff… it’s everything.
